Homer Watson House & Gallery is pleased to host to invite you to the opening reception for Friends Of Hidden Valley: Hidden Valley Revealed.
This fall, Homer Watson House & Gallery proudly presents Hidden Valley Revealed. In this juried exhibition, artists explore our natural environment in particular the Environmentally Sensitive Area inside Hidden Valley. The City of Kitchener, the Region of Waterloo, and the Province of Ontario have all recognized the uniqueness of the exceptional area by imposing special designations onto this privately- owned property. Through a diverse range of media, artists create an empathetic view of this natural setting and unspoiled gem of spectacular diversity that has been enjoyed by enthusiastic naturalist for generations. This exhibition honours the late Daphne Nicholls, an artist, active environmentalist, and a founding member of Friends of Hidden Valley.
Artists will take you on a journey through aromatic maple, beech, and oak leaves or wild ginger that stirs up wonderful fragrances. Sounds of the churr of red-bellied woodpecker, the rapid crescendo of an ovenbird, the witchity-witchity of a common yellowthroat, or the yipping of coyotes come to mind. Let your imagination savour wild strawberries in season, or dare to put a finger to the seed pod of pale touch-me-not.
The inspiration for this exhibit: all of this within a few hectares of Fairview Mall.
Please come and discover the riches of this treasure that Daphne Nicholls cared for so much, by visiting Homer Watson House & Gallery September 16- October 22, 2017.
Gallery staff will be on hand for house tours and light refreshments will be served.
Free to members & guests
